The science
25 years of research.German precision.
Every ApaCare formulation begins in the lab. Hydroxyapatite particles are sized, purified and stabilised to bond with enamel — measurable, reproducible, and proven across two and a half decades of clinical work in Tübingen.

How does hydroxyapatite care for enamel?
Tooth enamel is roughly 97% hydroxyapatite. ApaCare delivers that same mineral in medical grade, so it settles into microscopic surface defects and bonds with the enamel layer, compacting and smoothing the surface. The result is enamel that is better protected, teeth that feel less sensitive, and a surface that reflects light more evenly — brighter looking teeth without bleaching.
01
Particle engineering
Hydroxyapatite is sized, purified and stabilised in the lab so the particles are small enough to enter microscopic enamel defects and stable enough to stay in suspension.
02
Deposition
During brushing or rinsing, particles settle onto the tooth surface and fill defects, scratches and exposed dentine tubules.
03
Bonding
Because the mineral matches enamel chemically, the deposited layer integrates with the existing surface rather than sitting on top of it as a film.
04
Repeat and build
Every application adds another layer. Over weeks of twice-daily use the surface becomes progressively smoother — the effect ApaCare users describe as the ApaCare Glow.

The science, answered plainly
How does hydroxyapatite work on enamel?
- Tooth enamel is about 97% hydroxyapatite, a calcium-phosphate mineral. Medical hydroxyapatite in a toothpaste or paste is milled to particles that settle into microscopic surface defects and bond with the enamel layer, compacting and smoothing it. Each application adds a fresh layer, which supports the enamel's natural mineral balance and protective function.
What does 'liquid enamel' mean?
- Liquid enamel is a plain-language description of a formulation carrying the same mineral as enamel in a form that can be brushed or rinsed onto the tooth. It is not a coating or a filler — it is the enamel mineral itself, delivered in suspension.
Where was ApaCare developed?
- ApaCare grew out of university dental research in Tübingen, Germany, in clinical use since 1997 and developed with Univ.-Prof. Dr. Rainer Hahn. All ApaCare products are manufactured in Germany to pharmaceutical quality standards.
Why combine hydroxyapatite with fluoride?
- The two do different jobs. Fluoride helps make enamel more resistant to acid attack; hydroxyapatite supplies the mineral enamel is built from and physically smooths the surface. Combining them means enamel gets both acid resistance and mineral supply from one brushing.
Does smoothing enamel really make teeth look whiter?
- Yes, optically. A rough surface scatters light and traps stain; a smoothed, compacted surface reflects light more evenly so teeth look brighter and shinier. No bleaching agent or peroxide is involved.
How does the oral microbiome fit in?
- Enamel care alone does not address bad breath, gum inflammation or recurring cavities, which often begin with an imbalance in the bacteria living in the mouth. The ApaCare OraLactin line adds pre- and postbiotics plus three named live cultures so the microbiome and the enamel are cared for together.
